BUY THE SHOES!
August has always been a funny month for me.
It's my birthday month, which I loved as a kid... except it usually meant school was about to start. Talk about a mood killer.
I remember having that strange mix of emotions. I wasn't ready for summer to end, but I couldn't wait to see my friends every day again. There was something exciting about new notebooks, fresh shoes, and getting back into a routine... even if it meant saying goodbye to daylight til 9pm and full days at the pool.
Funny how life keeps doing that to us.
Even as adults, August still feels like the "Sunday evening" of summer. The vacations become memories, the calendars start filling back up, and before we know it, someone has a pumpkin on their front porch while the temperature is still 95 degrees.
I've learned that life doesn't usually change all at once. It changes quietly.
A new job.  An empty bedroom.  A growing family.  A new home.   A fresh routine.
Sometimes we don't even realize we're in a new season until we look back and see how much has changed.
Maybe that's one of the reasons I love what I do.
Real estate has never really been about houses for me. It's about walking alongside people during those transitions. Sometimes they're exciting. Sometimes they're overwhelming. Most of the time, they're a little bit of both.
So as we head into another busy season, here's my reminder—for you and for me.
Don't rush through August just because everyone else is thinking about what's next.
Take the trip.  Buy yourself the shoes.  Sit on the porch a little longer.  Call a friend.
Because before we know it, we'll be wondering how the holidays got here so fast.  I'd rather enjoy the season I'm in than spend all my time waiting for the next one.
